"This is a new chapter in my life at Eberle Winery, and I can't imagine doing anything else," Eberle said in a state- ment released by the winery. In January, Eberle's partners voted to remove him from the role of general manager. Willis Blakewell is the winery's new general manager. Co- owner Rob Flory said the rest of the owners are "extremely happy" Eberle is staying with the winery. "We want to continue to evolve, strengthen our vineyards and posi- tion the winery for continued success, and Gary is an important part of this plan." New general manager at Folio Paolo Battegazzore is the new general man- ager at Folio Wine Partners in Napa. Bat- tegazzore replaces David Francke, who is leaving the company after eight years in the position. Battegazzore joined Folio in 2005, overseeing the company's imported wine portfolio. Prior to joining Folio, Battegaz- zore was the general manager of the Luce della Vite wine company founded by Vit- torio Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi. New winemaker at Marcassin Ryan O'Donnell is the new winemaker at Marcassin Winery in Windsor. O'Donnell is the former associate winemaker at Kosta Browne Winery in Sebastopol, and prior to that was the associate winemaker at Paul Hobbs Winery, also in Sebastopol. Wine critic joins wine company Jackson Family Wines in Santa Rosa announced it had hired wine writer and critic Steve Heimoff as its director of wine communications and education. Heimoff spent more than 20 years at Wine Enthu- siast magazine reviewing California wines. Consequently, Wine Enthusiast announced Virginie Boone will cover Napa and Sonoma counties, and Matt Kettman will cover California's central and south coasts. Wines & Vines editor Jim Gordon will cover Mendocino, Lake and Contra Costa counties as well the Livermore Valley, Lodi, Central Valley and Sierra Nevada foothills.
