Arista hires new winemaker CALI FO R N I A Frank Family Vineyards buys Wood Ranch Frank Family Vineyards purchased Wood Ranch Vineyard Estate, an 87-acre property with 70 acres of vines, in a deal announced in November. The Napa Valley vineyard is planted to Bordeaux varieties, plus Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Chardonnay. Details: frankfamily�� vineyards.com. Grove property from Saralee and Richard Kunde, who first planted the site in 1988. The property includes more than 200 planted acres including Pinot Noir, Syrah and Chardonnay vines. The Kundes said in a statement announcing the deal that they will continue to provide 15 vintners with fruit from their remaining vineyards, which total more than 80 acres. Purlieu releases first vintage Purlieu Wines, a new winery based in Napa Valley���s Coombsville AVA, released its inaugural wine, a 2009 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, for $80 per bottle.
