The sup- plier reports the sensor is accurate in almost any soil and operates in temperatures from -40° to 140° F with an accuracy range of 6% that can be refined when the unit is cal- ibrated for a particular soil type. The device works with most Sen- saphone monitoring systems as well as irrigation-management net- works. sensaphone.com Fermentation tracking system BeerBotz, the maker of the new fermentation-monitoring system originally developed for brewing, says it can be used for winemak- ing and other fermentative pro- cesses. The system employs a variety of sensors to measure temperature, carbon dioxide emissions and barometer data as well as relay to control tempera- ture. Data can be downloaded to an Excel spreadsheet or Access database as well as sent to a smartphone through an Android widget or email. processbotz.com Ozone wand for barrel sanitation Zemplen Barrels is now offering the Oenocat ozone wand for sale in the North American mar- ket. The device is made by the German supplier Anseros and is designed to be inserted through the bunghole or mortise of bar- rels. Once inside the barrel, the wand generates ozone gas to kill any microbes on the surface as well as the gaps between staves. The supplier also pro- duces an Oenocat chamber that can hold several barrels at once for an ozone treatment. The Oenocat wand runs on 12-volt power, and a typical treatment lasts from one to eight hours or more, depending on the age of the barrel. zbarrels.com Fast DNA test for red blotch Agdia Inc. is now offering a rapid DNA test kit based on the company's AmplifyRP Acceler8 platform to detect the grapevine red blotch-associated virus. Ag- dia's Ampli- fyRP Acceler8 test is an iso- thermal DNA amplification assay based on recombi- nase poly- merase amplification technology (RPA). The helical lobe wine pump is designed as an all-purpose machine and features a waterproof WiFi remote control as well as an optional flowmeter, Oenoflux, which pro- vides flow control by temperature and pressure. The pump also was recently approved by the Bureau National Inter- professionnel du Cognac (BNIC) for use by distilleries in the Cognac region.
