July 2016 WINES&VINES 23 PRODUCT NEWS Spoilage yeast testing Pall Corp. expanded its line of GeneDisc products to include com- mon wine-spoilage yeasts. The discs provide a yeast screening test and a yeast identification test for the 12 major spoilage yeasts, including Brettanomyces. Yeast testing and colony identification results are available in two hours, and deter- mining the presence of one particu- lar microorganism is possible within 30 hours. pall.com/foodandbev New keg option Lightweight Containers launched its new one-time use keg, UniKeg, which it designed with a standard Sankey D fitting for the U.S. mar- ket. The kegs are available in 20- and 30-liter sizes. They feature double-wall technology and are meant as "one-way" containers to be recycled after use. keykeg.com Vegan fining agents Eaton Filtration Division released a line of fining agents that comply with vegan dietary restrictions. The company's SIHA Pea Protein can be combined with active bentonite and silica sol fining agents to clarify and stabilize wines. eaton.com/filtration Waterproof label material Trysk Print Solutions worked with a paper supplier to develop its new Ice Breaker with AqualLoc 100 wa- terproof label stock for wine, beer and other beverages. The supplier claims its new product "makes your favorite material virtually invin- cible" and brings to an end "the age of soggy paper." Trysk reports the new label material will not wrin- kle, dissolve, bubble or peel while preserving sharp text and bright colors even after 24 hours in an ice bucket. trysk.com Sturdier enclosures on rinsing machines Fogg Filler redesigned the standard enclosures on all its bottle-rinsing machines to make them more dura- ble, safe and manageable. The new doors feature stainless steel frames that support hardware and hinges to eliminate thermal expansion and keep chemical fumes enclosed so they can be evacuated through an exhaust system or chemical scrub- ber. The doors are also removable and feature easy-to-use "lift-off" hinges. foggfiller.com Send your product news to edit@winesandvines.com Product News Latest offerings and announcements Automated testing for cork quality Cork Supply unveiled DS100+, its new automated cork-testing sys- tem at the London Wine Fair in early May. The company reports the new system enables it to guar- antee corks that are 100% free of TCA (2, 4, 6-Trichloroanisole) con- tamination. "This new process will eliminate the risk of TCA in natural cork at levels as low as 1 part per trillion," and at higher production volume and lower cost, Cork Supply founder Jochen Michalski said. corksupply.com Your success is our prioritY
