Deerfield emerges from Chapter 11 Deerfield Ranch Winery in the Sonoma Valley suc- cessfully restructured its debt with Rabobank and left Chapter 11. The win- ery's plan for reorganization was approved by a U.S. bankruptcy court judge and included a restruc- tured and extended debt agreement with the bank as well as payment to the winery's other creditors. Deerfield sought bank- ruptcy protection from the court after experienc- ing substantial delays in completing a left turn lane off Highway 12 that was a condition of opening a new 23,000-square-foot wine cave and tasting room. The road construction took five years and substantially re- duced Deerfield's revenues. Since leaving Chapter 11, the winery has been seek- ing new partners, and its owners say they already have received multiple business offers, including a creamery partnership, for- eign investors and wineries looking for a public tasting room on Highway 12. New winemaker at Whitehall Lane Winery Jason Moulton is the new winemaker at Whitehall Lane Winery in St. Helena. Moulton has more than 10 years of winemaking experience at wineries in the Russian River Valley, Canada, New Zealand, Bordeaux and South Africa.
