winery & vineyard equipment 86 Wines&Vines January 2015 Mini-sillon inter-vine hoe carrier, Egretier Jean Michel An articulated tilling tool support carried behind an ag- ricultural tractor, Mini-Sillon is for use in vineyards planted in rows. The kinematic design of this tool is such that the moldboard turns away when the tool shifts to avoid the vine. Unlike with a conventional plow, the rear part of the share acts as a pivot point while the front part moves sideways to avoid hitting the vine. The soil under the balk is moved over a shorter distance. This design allows users to work at speeds close to 6 km per hour (3.7 mph). Different accessories can be attached to the tool carrier according to the extent of under-row weed growth. igoeasy, Still GmbH iGoEasy is an automated lift truck guidance system for horizontal load trans- port. The system can record several different routes. A new route is recorded by using sensors while driving the truck manually first. The route can then be repeated autonomously, on demand, via an iPad. The system is as simple to set up as it is to use, which makes it afford- able for SMEs. BROnZE MEDAL Winners Bucher inertys red wine application, Bucher Vaslin SA Bucher Inertys is a closed- loop pressing technique using inert gas. This technique, widely used in white and rosé winemaking, has been adapted for pressing fermented pomace to make red wine. Because pomace can produce or contain gas, a safety mechanism has been intro- duced at the level of the flexible cham- ber. The mechanism is connected to an automatic juice-selection system and specific pressing programs. Inerting the press for red wine minimizes oxidation, lessens the herbaceous quality of pressed juice and makes optimum use of the pressed juice. superheated water barrel cleaning and sterilizing process, Dgc Vins SARL An old, established technique has been greatly enhanced by the superheated water-cleaning and sterilizing process. The product is highly effective for disinfecting barrels to prevent contamination by Brettanomyces. It descales and disinfects at once, saving time and boosting efficiency. The machine is inexpensive, easy to use and simple to set up and maintain. Multifunction smart pump, Fourage-Cti The multifunction smart pump is a rotary piston pump controlled by a programmable controller with a touch-screen interface. It is de- COMMEnDAtIOnS
