Archery Summit makes two key hires Archery Summit win- ery in Dayton, Ore., an- nounced that Tim Scott is its new vineyard man- ager, and Eleni Papada- kis is the new assistant winemaker. Both Scott and Papadakis come to Archery Summit from other wineries in Oregon: Scott is the former vineyard man- ager for Domaine Drouhin, and Papadakis is the former winemaker at Domaine Serene. According to a news release announcing the hires, Scott and Papadakis will work to ex- pand Archery Summit's Pinot Noir program and add Chardonnay to the winery's portfolio. Promotions at Oregon wineries Quinton Jay was promoted to the position of president of Panther Creek Cellars in Dundee, Ore., and Gretchen Boock is now handling all business operations and wholesale sales for Wine by Joe and Dobbes Family Estate, also in Dundee. Both companies are part of the San Francisco, Calif.-based Bacchus Capital Man- agement portfolio of wineries. Jay is the for- mer managing director of Panther Creek, and Boock is former general manager of Wine by Joe and Dobbes Family Estate. Anthony Van Nice, chief operating officer of Dobbes Family Estate and president of Panther Creek, is join- ing Solena Estate in Yamhill, Ore., as presi- dent and to pursue other business interests, according to a statement released by Bacchus. Force Majeure hires winemaker Force Majeure winery in Washington's Red Mountain AVA named Todd Alexander the company's first head winemaker and general manager. Alexander is the former winemaker of Bryant Family Vineyard in the Napa Valley. Details: forcemajeurevineyards.com. Keg company partners with winery The Infinite Monkey Theorem winery in Den- ver, Colo., and keg-management and logistics company MicroStar are partnering to keg wine through a new enterprise called Iron Monkey Kegging Co. The company will be located in the heart of Denver and provide custom kegging services for wineries and dis- tributors. Greenwood Village, Colo.-based MicroStar is supplying the kegs, which are designed for containing and dispensing wine, as well as handling the keg logistics. Details: ironmonkeykegging.com. Long Island mourns winery owners A few weeks after Ann Marie Borghese died of cancer, her husband Marco Borghese died June 30 in a car acci- dent. The Borgheses were the owners of Castello di Borghese Vineyard & Winery in Cutchogue, N.Y., having purchased their first vineyard in Long Island in 1999. In a statement released by the Long Island Wine Country group, executive director Steven L. Bent said Marco Borghese was instrumental as leader of the Long Island Wine Council and Ann Marie was "vivacious and intelligent" and equally indispensable to the region. Hazlitt 1852 partners expand distribution Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards in Hector, N.Y., has partnered with WineWave to expand its distribution in several eastern and Midwest states.
