Pinot Noir dominated DtC shipments from Sonoma County wineries during the 12 months through June, but two other varieties were virtually tied for sec- ond place, and several others contributed significantly. Pinot Noir accounted for $106 million. Cabernet Sauvignon was No. 2, leading No. 3 Chardonnay by just $4 million. Regarding DtC shipments for all regions, the value of June shipments was, as usual, low compared to March, April and May, as the hottest weather approached and wineries began avoiding shipments when possible to avoid heat damage in tran- sit. June shipment value still rose 17% over June 2013. June Brings Dramatic Growth in Jobs June Metrics showed steady growth in wine sales at off-premise locations and through direct-to-consumer shipments, plus dra- matic growth in the Winery Job Index compared to June 2013. Combined domestic table wine and sparkling wine sales grew 5% in June from the June 2013 level, according to IRI. Twelve- month sales grew 6%. DtC shipment growth stayed in double digits for 12 months, while total sales reached $1.67 billion. The Winery Job Index for June rose 34% above the June 2013 level. Direct-to-consumer wine shipments were up 17% in June, and the 12-month growth rate hit 11% to reach $1.67 billion.
