Owner and founder Dennis Groth said in a statement that outgoing winemaker Mi- chael Weis' departure from the winery would be "slow and measured." Prior to accepting the posi- tion at Groth, Parry was the winemaker at Cha- teau Montelena Winery in Calistoga. Details: grothwines.com. West Coast Wine Partners names winemaker David Marchesi is the new director of winemaking at West Coast Wine Partners, a family-owned company based in Sonoma that owns a port- folio of California wineries. Marchesi is the former winemaker at Paraduxx Vineyards in Napa Valley. At West Coast Wine Partners, Marchesi will be responsible for all the wine- making, cellar and vineyard operations at the company's wineries. West Coast Wine Cellars owns Valley of the Moon Winery on the Ma- drone Vineyards Estate, Lake Sonoma Winery and Plume Winery. New winemaker at Jamieson Ranch Vineyards Juan Jose Verdina is the new director of winemaking at Jamieson Ranch Vineyards in Napa. A native of Chile, Verdina first came to the United States in 2002 to work as the enologist at Hahn Estates in the Santa Lucia Highlands, where he rose to the post of assistant wine- maker. In 2008 he was promoted to winemaker for the Coppa Del Rey brand of Hahn Family Wines, and most recently he oversaw the de- velopment of the Cycles Gladiator Winery in Lodi. New winemaker at Chateau Montelena Matthew Crafton is the new winemaker at Chateau Montelena Winery in Calistoga. Crafton, a native of Virginia, joined the winery in 2008 as assistant winemaker and took the lead on the Chardonnay program. Details: montelena.com. Shannon Ridge hires director of winemaking Joy Merrilees is the new director of winemak- ing and production at Shannon Ridge Family of Wines winery in Lake County. Before join- ing Shannon Ridge, Merrilees worked in wine- making at Steele Wines in Lake County as well as spending several years at wineries in New Zealand. New winemaker at Bryant Family Marc Gagnon is the new winemaker at Bryant Family Vineyard in St. Helena.
