Payette elected to Virginia Wine Council Winemaking consul- tant Tom Payette was elected to a three- year term on the Vir- ginia Wine Council in Richmond, Va. Payette is the only councilmember not affiliated with a specific winery but focused on serving the entire state's wine industry. Payette replaces outgo- ing councilmember Gordon Murchie. In ad- dition to consulting for East Coast wineries, Payette is an author and wine judge. Leadership change at WineAmerica WineAmerica in Washington, D.C., announced that Caroline Shaw, executive vice president and chief communications and marketing of- ficer for Jackson Family Wines, is the group's new board chair and Trent Preszler, chief ex- ecutive officer of Bedell Cellars in Long Island, N.Y., is the group's new vice chair. The group's board elected Shaw and Preszler to their posts during the National Wine and Grape Policy Conference in May. The leadership changes follow the resignation of WineAmerica execu- tive director Mark Chandler. G3 acquires new printer for labels G3 Enterprises announced it had acquired a new Nilpeter Flexo Press to support its wine label business. Man- ufactured in Denmark, the press provides "the flexibility and print quality rivaling or exceeding that of offset printing," according to a statement from G3. The new press also features side-to-side registration, increased pressure-sensitive capacity and expanded print capabilities including flat foil and em- boss tooling. Summit adds staff Keith Gellerman and Erica Mikesh joined the staff at Summit Engineering in Santa Rosa, Calif. Gellerman is a staff engineer in the firm's water/wastewater division, and Mikesh is a project engineer in the civil division. Both Gellerman and Mikesh cur- rently are working on winery projects for Summit Engineering.
