Les Bourgeois launches new distillate brand Les Bourgeois Vineyards in Rocheport, Mo., announced its partnership with a local dis- tiller to create Planck & Anchor Distillers. The name is derived from distiller Jonny Ver Planck of Jefferson City, Mo., and the inau- gural lineup for the brand includes Rocheport rum, vodka and gin. Arizona Stronghold partners split Maynard James Keenan and Eric Glomski, founders of Arizona Stronghold winery in Arizona, are parting ways. Keenan will as- sume ownership of a vineyard in southern Arizona, while Glomski will retain the winery in Camp Verde, Ariz., and the Arizona Strong- hold brand. Keenan, a professional musician, also owns the Caduceus wine brand and met Glomski, who owns Page Springs Cellars, when he hired him as a consultant for Cadu- ceus in the early 2000s. Colorado changes law on wine kegging Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper signed legislation May 9 that allows wineries in the state to keg bulk wines from out-of-state producers. Ben Parsons, owner of Infinite Monkey Theorem winery in Denver, Colo., led the effort to pass the law allowing out- of-state kegs. Parsons, who founded the 12,000-case winery in 2008, sought the law change after distributors and wineries in other states approached him about kegging their products and bulk wine for sale in the Colorado market, according to information released by the winery. Winery and brewery opens in Virginia 2 Witches Winery and Brewing Co. opened its doors in Danville, Va., on May 16. The company is owned by Julie and Ethan Brown, who plan to make wine with grapes from a vineyard owned by Julie Brown's father. The company is already offering a lineup of beers made onsite and plans to release its wines later this summer.
