Wine storage in Lake County Clifford and Nancy Ruzicka announced plans for their new business, Lake County Wine Cellars, which is a bonded wine storage facil- ity with an attached tasting room in Lakeport. The Ruzickas plan to have the building opera- tional by early 2015. The 20,000-square-foot building will feature refrigerated, secure stor- age areas with a tasting room for their clients' wines. "There is a need within the local wine industry," Clifford Ruzicka said in a state- ment. "And we have the right space to fill it." Hughes announces partnership with V2 V2 Wine Group in Sonoma and Cameron Hughes Wines have announced a sales and marketing partnership. According to a news release, V2 will provide sales and marketing services and manage the distribution network of Cameron Hughes wines throughout the United States. Details: v2winegroup.com. Putah Creek opens tasting room in Davis Putah Creek Winery announced the opening of its tasting room in Davis. The winery is owned by Garba Wine Co., which is led by managing partners Diego Barison and Jes- sica Chin Foo. Garba acquired it this year from founders Gene and Cathy Glaeser. The Glaesers still manage the vineyard, which is the source for the winery's grapes. Details: putahcreekwinery.com. Tooley named director of finance Justin M. Tooley is the new director of finance at Villa San-Juliette winery in Paso Robles. As the former assistant controller for Roll Wine Holdings, Tooley was in charge of daily fi- nance and compli- ance operations for Justin Winery in Paso Robles and Roll Vineyards and Land- mark Winery in So- noma County. Details: villasanjuliette.com. Fire damages Oregon winery A fire caused $300,000 to $400,000 worth of damage at Scott Paul Wines in Carlton, Ore. According to local re- ports, the fire started near the fermentation area. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and keep flames and smoke from reach- ing the winery's barrel room. Grant funding for Oregon wine center Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore., won a three-year grant from the Walmart Foundation and the American As- sociation of Community Colleges. The $180,000 grant will support a job-training initiative to recruit new students for the Southern Oregon Wine Institute's viticulture and enology training programs.
