Kelly to review for Advocate William Kelly has joined Napa- based Robert Parker Wine Advocate newsletter and Robert- Parker.com as reviewer covering Burgundy, Chablis, Beaujolais, California's Central Coast and Washington state. Kelly attended Oxford University, where he stud- ied history at St. John's College, and was the president of the Ox- ford University Wine Circle for four years. Kelly is a former correspon- dent for Decanter magazine and contributor for The Robb Report and Noble Rot. The Wine Advo- cate editor Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW, will also take over coverage of Bordeaux for the newsletter and website. Delicato names executive VP of sales Delicato Family Vineyards in Napa appointed Mark Merrion to execu- tive vice president of sales. Mer- rion reports to president and CEO Chris Indelicato and will manage Delicato's sales team and private- label sales activity, to execute market and distribution strategies and to reach sales goals. Merrion has more than 25 years of wine industry experience and most recently was senior vice president for U.S. sales and trade marketing at Treasury Wine Estates. Fetzer honored by United Nations Fetzer Vineyards was one of 19 companies in the world to receive the United Nations' Momentum for Change Climate Solutions Award at COP23, the UN Climate Change Conference. The wine company received the honor at the conference in Bonn, Germany, making it the third environmental award Fetzer won in 2017. Fetzer was recognized by the UN for its Net Positive Wine program, which is a comprehensive approach to responsible business and carbon neutrality. In addition to the UN honor, Fetzer also received the Golden State Warrior Award from Ceres' Business for Innovative Climate and Energy Policy and the Project of the Year honor from Environmental Leader. The winery is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. NORTHWEST Walla Walla alliance promotes Riggs to CEO The Walla Walla Valley Wine Alli- ance promoted Ashley Riggs to CEO. Riggs replaces former ex- ecutive director Heather Unwin, who will assist Riggs through the transition as well as work with the organization as needed through 2018. A native of Walla Walla, Wash., Riggs has served as the WWVWA's communica- tions and marketing manager since March 2016. Prior to join- ing the Alliance, Riggs worked for the Tillamook County Cream- ery Association in advertising and marketing roles. In her new role, Riggs will oversee several alliance initiatives and programs. Salud raises $850,000 in Oregon ¡Salud! announced that its 26th annual Oregon Pinot Noir Auc- tion weekend raised more than $830,000 for vineyard worker healthcare. Since its inception in 1991, ¡Salud!, which is a collabo- ration between Tuality Healthcare and Oregon wineries, has raised more than $14 million. ¡Salud! provides year-round direct care to workers at approximately 150 vineyards throughout the northern Willamette Valley through its mo- bile medical unit.
