Seven are located in California, and one (Pleasant Valley) is based in the Finger Lakes region of New York state. Pleasant Valley is the only one with an average bottle price below $10, so the other six fit the pattern of rapidly growing sales in the higher price segments. WINERY COUNT State That Added Wineries at Fastest Rate TEXAS The Lone Star State winery count went up by 64 wineries or 29% in the most recent 12 months, making it the fastest grow- ing in the United States. Now with 286 wineries, Texas ranks fifth among the states, behind California, Washington, Oregon and New York, in that order.
