The Unified Wine & Grape Sym- posium drew more than 14,000 members of the wine industry to Sacramento, Calif., for each of the past two years, and in 2016 the action begins Jan. 26. Fred Franzia, the founder, chairman and CEO of Bronco Wine Co., is giving the keynote speech at a luncheon at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel, the first public event of the 2016 symposium. With annual production of 11 million cases, according to Wines Vines Analytics, Bronco is the sixth-largest wine pro- ducer in the United States. The Ceres, Calif.- based company sells wine under 53 labels at an average bottle price of $11. But its most widely recognized brand, Charles Shaw, is com- monly known as "Two-Buck Chuck"—a refer- ence to its original retail price of $1.99 per bottle (now $2.99). Franzia's speech will mark Unified's third keynote luncheon.
