Invino, Last Bottle Wines Push April Offers Higher The Flash Report Complete flash data is available at winesandvines.com/flash METRICS 12 WINES&VINES June 2015 T otal flash offers in April rose 21% com- pared to the same month last year, as Invino and Last Bottle Wines both made more than 100 offers for domestic wines. The two web- sites accounted for 40% of all offers in April, and their wines included several high-priced Napa Valley cult favorites such as Screaming Eagle. Last Bottle Wines, which is based in Napa Valley and recently celebrated its fourth year of doing business, made three separate offers for bottles of Screaming Eagle. Bottles of the 2012 and 1999 vintage of the wine each were available for $1,999. A bottle of the 1997 vintage was offered at $3,695, which was the highest flash price in April. Some other h i g h - p r i c e d N a p a Cabernet Sauvignons offered by Last Bottle Wines included a 2001 Harlan Estate for $699, a 2010 Bry- ant Family Vineyard for $425 and a 2002 Larkmead Vineyards for $329. These high-priced wines are much more e x p e n s i v e t h a n w h a t ' s n o r m a l l y available through flash websites, which sell wines for a lim- ited amount of time. Nearly 60% of the total offers in the past 72 months had a flash price of less than $20, and wines with a flash price of $20-$29 accounted for 21% of all offers. Flash websites appear to typically offer a wine at around half its retail price. In the same 72-month period, a quarter of all the offers had a discount of at least 40%, and about a third were offered with a 50% discount or more.
