W i n e s & V i n e s A U G U s T 2 0 1 4 43 A dvanced Track & Trace (ATT) with offices in Paris, Shanghai, Hong- Kong, San Francisco, Lausanne and Bordeaux, directs identifica- tion, traceability and authentication for the products of more than 350 wine growing estates and more than 30 brands of fine wines and spirits in the world. ATT's Seal Vector®technology stamps each product package with a unique, digitally created ID mark, and traces it via scanners during the journey to the end user. The square, pixilated codes are affixed in visible and hidden form on packages, to prevent thieves from repacking bogus goods in the original containers. Because the codes are also impossible to reproduce in printed form without making them unreadable to scanners, the centrally stored Seal Vector®2-D codes ensure that counterfeiters cannot pro- duce "legitimate" brand-packaging ID for their knockoffs. Seal Vector Titanium © is a combination of QR code and Seal Vector® that can be used by end customers to get confirmation that they buy or drink a genuine wine. Authenticating a product for the end consumer becomes easy: scanning the QR Code with a smartphone queries a data- base. In return, the screen shows the security features associated with the Titanium © Code. The consumer knows immediately that the wine is genuine or fake. New this year is the Chinese government effort to assure its population of product authen- ticity. ATT has partnered with the Chinese gov- ernment on the PEOP Project. Based on a tracking system of products from production through all distribution, this program covers Chi- nese and foreign companies, producers and organizations alike. The PEOP Project serves multiple purposes: to strengthen the fight against illicit trades, including counterfeiting and misuse of appella- tions; and to protect the environment, traditional practices and control health risks. A logo will be printed directly on PEOP-labeled products' packaging, labels or on a sticker. Guaranteeing the product's eco-origin to Chi- nese consumers, this logo embeds a second level of security aimed to authorities and cus- toms officers, allowing them to instantly trace and authenticate a product. For wineries importing to China, the PEOP logo: • Facilitates and reduces customs clearance delays; • Authenticates and ensures the traceability of products; • Conveys an image of quality and authenticity towards local importers; • Reassures Chinese consumers through important and regular govern- ment communication campaigns; Advanced Track & Trace® holds the license to supply producers with a certified sticker providing both the PEOP logo, and Seal Vector® technology with complemen- tary information to the con- sumer : legal, security, environmental information and more. Through these technical features, producers can promote their products among Chinese consumers, who can check a product's quality, authenticity and origin via a smartphone. Consum- ers can also access exclu- sive product information provided by the producer. • Advanced Track & Trace 99 avenue de la Châtaigneraie | 92500 | Rueil-Malmaison | France SPECIAL ADVERTISING SECTION Seal Vector Technology partners with China's PEOP Project WINE INDUSTRY SECURITY For more information about Seal Vector technology, contact Philippe Mathevon at 1.408.627.0115, or by email, p.mathevon@att-fr.com.
