METRICS 12 WINES&VINES August 2017 Flash Offers Fall Again The Flash Report Complete flash data is available at winesandvines.com/flash F ewer websites are making fewer flash of- fers, leading to another drop in the monthly total of offers for domestic wines. Summer has typically seen a dip in the number of offers by flash resellers, but with WineShopper no longer operating and Lot 18 no longer acting as a reseller, offers in June fell 17% compared to the previous year. June's total number of offers, 357, was even less than the 361 offers made by flash wine sellers in June 2011. Flash offers of wines from Sonoma County in the past 12 months dropped 4% compared to the previous year. The wine type with the largest drop in offers was red blends, which fell 26% compared to 2016. Pinot Noir led all of the Sonoma County offers, and offers for the varietal remained strong, dropping only 1% from the previous year. Caber- net Sauvignon offers grew by 19% over the previ- ous year and accounted for 18% of all offers. In the past 12 months, wines with flash prices of between $15 and $29 accounted for 63% of all wines from Sonoma County wineries offered in June. The number of wines with prices of more than $40 fell slightly from 119 in 2016 to 113 this year.
