Key Indicators Complete data is available at winesandvines.com/metrics U .S. wine sales rose 4% from a year ago to hit $3.1 billion in April 2017, mar- ket-research firm bw166 reported. Sales for the 12 months ended April 2017 ap- proached $40 billion, up 3% from the previous year. Domestic sparkling wine sales increased 8% in April 2017 versus a year earlier, more than offsetting a 1% decrease in bulk imports. Twelve-month sales also increased 8% over the previous year, again helping offset a 3% de- crease in bulk imports. The strength of domestic wine sales is part of an ongoing trend and reflects consumers' growing willingness to discover new, often pricier products, made closer to home. The premiumization trend seen through 2016 con- tinues unabated. Supporting this optimistic take, growth across all market segments was steady at 3% and translated into total wine sales (including packaged imports) reaching $60.1 billion in the 12 months ended April 2017. Domestic wine sales are approximately double the volume of packaged imports, again underscoring the upper hand domestic wines have in the market. —Peter Mitham U.S. Wine Sales Winery Job Index MONTH April 2017 380 April 2016 391 12 MONTHS April 2017 293 April 2016 274 MONTHLY INDEX 7% U.S. Wine Sales Total $3.1 Billion in April with 4% Growth Source: winejobs.com Winejobs.com Index 500 400 300 200 100 0 2017 2016 May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr -3% METRICS 10 WINES&VINES June 2017 Off-Premise Sales IRI Channels MONTH April 2017 $665M April 2016 $647M 12 MONTHS April 2017 $8,711M April 2016 $8,390M MONTHLY SALES U.S. Wine Sales MONTH April 2017 $3,138M April 2016 $3,020M 12 MONTHS April 2017 $39,778M April 2016 $38,447M MONTHLY SALES 3% 4% 3% 4% Direct-to-Consumer Shipments MONTH April 2017 $227M March 2016 $202M 12 MONTHS April 2017 $2,462M April 2016 $2,069M MONTHLY SHIPMENTS 19% 13% Source: , Wines Vines Analytics.
