Purchase a session pass to experience the tasting sessions below and visit the Trials Tent exhibition hall to participate in the walkaround tasting of more than 25 winemakers' trials. Meet the winemakers, taste the wines and provide feedback directly. Sonoma-Cutrer Screw Cap Sensory Trials (Session + Tasting) In a double-blind tasting, winemaker Cara Morrison will guide an intimate audience through some of Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards' recent screw cap trials. Measuring Phenolics from Vineyard to Tank (Session + Tasting) Vineyard and winery trial wines from Far Niente, Larkmead Vineyards and DAOU Vineyards will be sampled. Non-Tasting Sessions Innovation Keynote Ken Grossman Under the direction of founder Ken Grossman, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. has grown from a home-brewing operation to the sixth-largest and one of the most state-of-the-art breweries in the United States. His innovation and iconic Pale Ale revolutionized the "American" style of brewing. Grossman joins us to speak during the 2017 IQ General Session. Advances in Cork Quality The incidence of corks tainted with TCA has declined markedly in the past 10 years. Now several vendors are introducing new technologies and tests they believe will eliminate the occurrence of cork taint. Recent Research: Findings that Will Change the Way You Make Wine Randy Ullom, winemaster for Jackson Family Wines, and Torey Arvik, science program leader at Sonomaceuticals, will lead attendees through the latest research on effi cient, inexpensive Brett detection performed at JFW wineries while Gregory Gambetta from Bordeaux will be discussing phenolics in the vineyard. Winemaking Keynote Clark Smith Winemaking consultant and recipient of the 2016 IQ Innovator of the Year award, Clark Smith has made it his mission to change the way people think about technology in winemaking. Smith joins us to speak during the 2017 IQ General Session.
