Lake Champlain AVA proposed Members of the Lake Champlain Growers As- sociation have applied to the U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau to form the Champlain Valley of New York AVA. The pro- posed AVA would consist of "a long, narrow relatively flat valley" located along the western shore of Lake Champlain, which lies on the bor- der between New York and Vermont and extends north into Quebec. The proposed AVA would end at the U.S.-Canadian border to the north and in the south at the Champlain Hudson Divide, which separates the Champlain Valley from the Hudson River Valley. The eastern boundary is the lake shoreline, and the western boundary follows creeks and roads that separate the pro- posed AVA from the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains.
