New winemaker at Encore in B.C. Lawrence Buhler is the new director of wine- making for Encore Vineyards, the parent com- pany of McWatters Collection, Time Estate Winery and Evolve Cellars in British Columbia. Buhler has more than 10 years of winemaking experience and comes to Encore from Colio Es- tate Winery in Ontario. Encore is an integrated wine company that owns the 60-acre Sundial Vineyard where the company is also building a 25,000-square-foot winery. King Estate plans new winery in Willamette Valley King Estate Winery in Eugene, Ore., plans to open a 50,000-square-foot warehouse and win- ery in Cottage Grove, Ore., about 20 miles east of the winery. The new facility will support the winery's Acrobat program that accounted for more than 130,000 cases in 2014. Construction of the new winery will begin in spring 2016 and is expected to be complete in time for the 2017 harvest. Latin Corner tasting room opens in Walla Walla Two Washington state wineries that focus on Spanish and Italian varieties opened a joint tast- ing room in downtown Walla Walla, Wash. Latin Corner is the shared tasting room of Gino Cu- neo's g.Cuneo Cellars, which focuses on Italian wines, and Doug McCrea's Salida Wine, which produces Spanish and Rhône Valley wines. DeLille releases 20th vintage of Chaleur Estate Blanc DeLille Cellars of Woodinville, Wash., celebrated the 20th release of its Chaleur Estate Blanc wine July 12 at the winery's annual Bastille Day celebration. Founded in 1992 by Greg Lill, Jay Soloff and current executive winemaker Chris Upchurch, the winery has focused on Bor- deaux-style wines. The Chaleaur Estate Blanc is a white Bordeaux-style wine made with grapes from some of the state's oldest vineyards in- cluding Sagemoor, Boushey and Klipsun Vine- yards in the Red Mountain AVA. The winery and Upchurch were named the "honorary vintner" for 2015 by the Auction of Washington Wines. Ste. Michelle launches California brand Ste. Michelle Wine Estates of Woodinville, Wash., launched its new Motto brand, which is produced using California grapes and wine. The inaugural release, all 2013 vintage, includes a Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and red blend.
