Hazlitt releases sangrias Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards of Hector, N.Y., extended its Red Cat line of wines with red and white ready-to- drink sangrias. The new products are Red Cat wines mixed with fruit flavors and spices. The new san- grias will be available in Hazlitt's New York state tasting rooms and online. SUPPLIER Wine Business launches new classifieds WineBusiness.com has launched the North Coast Classifieds, a bi- weekly, regional classified listing serving California's Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Napa, Solano and Sonoma counties. More than 1,100 wine industry profession- als received the inaugural edition, which was sent out May 4. The North Coast Classifieds publication is delivered to subscribers once every two weeks and includes all postings for grapes and bulk wine, used equipment, used barrels, winejobs.com, real estate and ser- vices/supplies in the area. Cork Supply promotes Hladun to VP of operations Cork Supply USA announced Peter Hladun has been promoted from the post of director of technical services to vice president of opera- tions. In his new role, Hladun will oversee the company's operations at its Benicia, Calif., facility includ- ing all technical services, supply chain management, customer ser- vice and the production of corks, barrels and oak alternative products at Tonellerie Ô cooperage. Hladun joined the company in 2011. Cadus to plant a tree for every barrel sold Tonnellerie Cadus will plant a tree in France for every barrel it sells. Working with a nursery in Burgundy, the cooper will replant sessile and common oak throughout several regions in France for each barrel delivered to wineries, according to a news release from the company. The forestry advocacy group Eco- cert Environnement will ensure the correct number of trees are planted as well as monitor the health of the young trees and check the density and area of planting. Vintage Nurseries to open QC lab Wasco, Calif.-based Vintage Nurs- eries will open a new materials testing lab to test plant materials quicker and more thoroughly for clients. Heading up the new lab will be Tefera Mekuria, Ph.D., who formerly worked at the Washington State University research center in Prosser, Wash., where he studied plant viruses, vine pathogens and tree fruits. Deep Root wins award Deep Root Irrigation's new DRI-12 irrigator won the top honor for new and innovative irrigation technology at the BlueTech Valley Water Summit held in March in Clovis, Calif. The DRI-12 is designed to be inserted into the ground to deliver water to a plant's root zone.
