Faces & Forums 90 WINES&VINES April 2018 Unified Symposium Draws Nearly 14,000 Nearly 14,000 people came to the 24th annual Unified Wine & Grape Sympo- sium in Sacramento, Calif., Jan. 23-25 to attend 23 presentations and panel discussions organized by a panel of industry volunteers who recruited more than 90 experts to speak on topics rang- ing from wildfires and wine to vineyard mechanization. Complementing those talks was a two-day trade show that housed nearly 700 exhibitors. Brian Avila has been the winemaker for Napa's Pope Valley Winery since 2014.
