22 WINES&VINES April 2018 PRODUCT NEWS New option for stabilizing wines Enartis USA released two products designed to improve the process of stabilizing wines. The company claims the new products will make stabilization easier, faster and cheaper to help wineries bring wines to market more quickly. Ze- nith Uno is designed to stabilize all types of wine, while Zenith Color can also stabilize the anthocyanins in red wines. Both products contain potassium polyaspartate. The com- pany adds gum arabic (Acacia verek) to Zenith Color to stabilize and protect the color in red wines. Rates of addition are 100 ml/HL for Zenith Uno and 200 ml/HL for Ze- nith Color. enartis.com Smart aluminum closure Guala Closures Group unveiled the e-wak closure that it de- scribes as the wine industry's first smart aluminum closure. The clo- sure features an NFC tag devel- oped in partnership with NXP Semiconductors and is designed to help wineries ensure brand au- thenticity and develop one-on- one relationships with consumers. Consumers simply "tap the cap" with a smartphone to see content developed by the winery to com- municate key brand information or to connect with wine apps, wine club offers, loyalty programs and social media. The e-wak can also be used to acquire marketing data, bottle certification and track and trace. gualaclosures.com Pure grape tannins Gusmer Enterprises partnered with Polyphenolics to offer the compa- ny's line of enological tannins pro- duced from wine grapes. Polyphenolics derives its products from whole grapes and sells con- sumer health supplements as well as the StellarTan line of tannins for use in winemaking. Polyphenolics claims its extraction process pre- serves the natural structure of the tannins to ensure they are instantly and completely soluble in wine, juice or must. StellarTan tannins can be used for finishing and fer- mentation to help develop or adjust Product News Latest offerings and announcements Remove, manage oxygen and carbon dioxide M. A. According to the supplier, Oxi Out can be used to help prevent premature aging and to bottle wine with less sulfur dioxide by reducing the risk of oxidization. Oxy- gen is removed by a nitrogen or car- bon dioxide current, vacuum or combination of both. The machine can process up to 13,200 gal- lons per hour. The Oxi Out can also be used to remove carbon diox- ide to "lift aromatics in white and rosé wines or to decrease astringency and bitterness components in reds." masilva.com QST offers its clients…….
