THE CHALLENGE In the heart of Napa Valley, owner and winemaker Julie Johnson's Tres Sabores Winery is all about function over form. Production at the first winery on the property started in 1989 in a converted barn used by a nearby winery for overflow capacity. In 1999, Johnson updated the small crush pad and launched Tres Sabores. Most of the winery equipment is used or repur- posed, and Johnson employs a hands-on approach to winemaking.
