Volk describes himself as an "innovating traditionalist" who aims to create multi- faceted wines. He said he employs different cultivation practices and picking sweeps to avoid "homogenous tasting" wine. Grapes are all picked by hand and de- livered to the winery in a large crush area accessible by truck near the main entrance of the winery. After weigh-in, grapes in half-ton MacroBins are dumped with a Hyster 50 forklift with a Bin Masters for- ward dumper into a Carlsen & Associates portable hopper equipped with a screw augur and variable-drive motor.
