Ledger David names first in-house winemaker Ledger David Cellars in Central Point, Ore., announced that Kiley Evans has been hired as its first in-house winemaker. Evans previously worked at Raffaldini Vineyard and Winery in Ronda, N.C., and before that he worked at Abacela Winery in Roseburg, Ore. Ledger David Cellars produces wine with estate grapes and is in the final stage of building its own gravity-flow winery. Details: ledgerdavid.com. New VP at DeLille, Panther Creek Tom Dugan is the new vice president of opera- tions at DeLille Cellars in Woodinville, Wash., and Panther Creek Cellars in Dundee, Ore. Dugan is also a managing director of Bacchus Capital Management, overseeing the firm's Northwest portfolio of wine companies. Arkansas voters to decide on dry counties A proposal to standardize alcohol laws in Ar- kansas received enough signatures to appear on the Nov. 4 ballot. Nearly 90,000 state resi- dents signed a proposal in support of an amendment that would allow the production, transport and sale of alcoholic beverages throughout the state. Currently Arkansas regulates alcohol through county ordinances, and 37 of the state's 75 counties are "dry" and prohibit alcohol. Wollersheim expanding spirits business Wollersheim Winery in Prairie du Sac, Wis., announced it had broken ground on a new 25,000-square foot distillery that will be at- tached to the winery's existing fermentation buildings. Wollersheim will produce its Co- quard Brandy in the new facility, expected to be complete by summer 2015. Details: wollersheim.com. Maryland honors Bordeleau Bordeleau Vineyard & Winery near Salis- bury, Md., took Best of Show and Best Red Wine honors at the 2014 Maryland Governor's Cup Com- petition for its 2008 Amarone-style Cabernet Sauvignon. The con- test received more than 100 different wines from Maryland wineries. Bordeleau's Cham- bourcin Lot 5 also earned a gold medal. De- tails: bordeleauwine.com. Chateau Lafayette wins Governor's Cup Lt. Gov. Robert J. Duffy presented New York's 2014 Governor's Cup to Chateau Lafayette Reneau for its 2013 Finger Lakes semi-dry Riesling during the recent New York Wine & Food Classic.
