S U PPLI ERS General manager promotion at Cooperages 1912 Elizabeth Van Emst was promoted to the position of general manager for Cooperages 1912 Napa. Van Emst will oversee wine barrel sales in North America and manage the firm's operations in Napa, Calif. Van Emst joined the company in 2008 as a wine barrel account manager for the Sonoma, Oregon and Coastal California markets; most recently she was the company's West Coast operations manager. New hires at Scott Labs Maria Peterson Maria Peterson is the new filtration specialist at Scott Laboratories in Petaluma, Calif. Peterson is a native of South Africa and has held winemaking posts at wineries in Australia, France, South Africa and Georgia. The company also announced that Lee Miller is its new parts and service manager. Most recently, Miller was the operations director at Nadalie Cooperage in Calistoga, Calif. Details: scottlab.com. New general manager of Guillaume nursery Jean Vittot is the new general manager of Guillaume Grapevine Nursery in Knights Landing, Calif. Vittot is the former vice president of sales and marketing for Canton Cooperage and most recently managed the Xtrachêne line of oak alternatives in Bordeaux, France. PR veterans form new firm Tim McDonald and Rusty Eddy announced the formation of their new public relations firm under the name of McDonald's company, Wine Spoken Here. The duo will operate out of an office in Napa, Calif., as well as Eddy's office in Healdsburg, Calif. New general manager at Laffort Shaun Richardson is the new general manager of Laffort USA in Petaluma, Calif. Richardson will manage the French yeast manufacturer's operations in the United States as well as in Canada and Mexico. New director of sales for Cadus Ryan Render is the new director of sales in North America for Tonnellerie Cadus. Render takes over for Vincent Bouchard, who remains a shareholder and member of the Cadus board of directors. Details: tonnelleriecadus.com. Ryan Render New DtC consultancy Sue Straight has launched a new company, DTC Wine Coach, in Healdsburg, Calif.
