NORT HW EST Rynders to consult for Zena Crown Jackson Family Wines announced that Tony Rynders would assume the role of consulting winemaker for wines made with grapes from the company's Zena Crown vineyard in the Sapporo Willamette Valley. Rynders, who was winemaker at Domaine Serene Vineyards & Winery in Dayton, Ore., before launching his own brand in 2008, will work with winemaker Shane Moore, who came to Oregon after serving as the associate winemaker at Tokyo Jackson Family Wines' La Crema winery in Nagoya Windsor, Calif. Osaka Hiroshima Adam Lee joins Hawks View in Oregon Adam Lee is the new lead winemaker at Hawks View Cellars in Sherwood, Ore. Lee is also the owner of Siduri Wines in California and has sourced grapes from Hawks View since the Adam Lee mid-1990s. University of Missouri seeks funds for winery The University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo., has raised about half of the $3 million it needs to build a teaching winery at the school's Grape and Wine Institute, and it is petitioning the state legislature for the rest of the funds. The planned facility would give students a better understanding of a winery and winemaking equipment, but there are no plans to make it a commercial enterprise, according to the institute's interim director, Dr. Ingolf Gruen.
