AUGUST NEWS Active Club Solutions opens data center S U P PLI ERS EAST UK to offer wine courses The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture announced it would offer courses designed to train employees for the state's growing wine industry. The first course will be a wine-appreciation class covering grapegrowing, winemaking, sensory evaluation and wine regions. Details: ca.uky.edu. New chair for Ontario wine council Allan Schmidt, president and managing partner of Vineland Estates Winery in Vineland, Ontario, is the new Allan chair of the Wine Schmidt Council of Ontario. New director at Bacchus Mar k C an ty joined Bacchus Capital in San Francisco, Calif., as director. Canty formerly was a member of the corporate leadership development program at E. & J. Wine Management partners with ETS Wine Management Systems (WMS) in San Rafael, Calif., partnered with ETS Laboratories in St. Helena, Calif., to flow wine analysis results into WMS' cloud-based wine-production system. Wine club management firm Active Club Solutions opened a new data center in Lacey, Wash. The company reports the new center should help wineries in Washington state and western Canada manage wine club websites faster. Details: activeclubsolutions.com. Used equipment dealer opens Revolution Equipment Sales opened in Santa Rosa, Calif., selling "certified preowned" equipment for the wine and beer industries. The company is owned by P&L Specialties and the Tom Beard Co. Details: revoquip.com. Scott Labs adds supplier Scott Laboratories Inc. completed a renovation of its main warehouse in Petaluma, Calif. The warehouse now has 30% more storage capacity and a streamlined process for managing inventory and shipping orders. The company also added Australian chemical firm AiRD to its list of suppliers. New CEO for Universal Packaging Steve Pelkey will become the new CEO of Universal Packaging following the retirement of Mac McLellan at the end of the year. Pelkey is currently the firm's vice president of sales and marketing. Details: unipack.ca.
