As a result, preparations for the hur- ricane were focused not on grapes but on the issues of flooding, winds and—for those near the coastline—storm surges. Even though Red Hook Winery, located on Pier 41 in Brooklyn, N.Y., tried to prepare for the worst, it took a direct hit from Sandy.
