They grew slightly in volume compared to a year earlier and dropped slightly in value. These relatively inexpensive wines accounted for 11% of DtC value for the 12 months ending Oct. 31, shrinking from 12% in the previous 12-month period. Some consumers like to stock up on extreme-value wines via DtC shipments: They ordered 8,578 cases of wine in the very lowest bracket (less than $6 per bottle.) Both cases and value climbed as prices rose, reaching 421,311 cases and $87 million for wines priced $15-$19.99. 60 Jul Oct Dec 2011 2012 2010 Up 6% from 2011 October DtC Shipments Break Monthly Record Direct-to-consumer shipments hit a high- water mark in October with a value of $222 million, beating last year's number by 13%.
