A resident of Windsor, Calif., Kunde owned and operated Sonoma Grapevines, which grew into one of the largest grapevine nurseries in the United States, producing up to 14 million vines per year. Kunde and his wife, Sara- lee, who preceded him in death in 2014, built and donated the $3 mil- lion Saralee and Richard's Barn at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. The couple's home also has been turned into a popular event space for community fundraisers known as Richard's Grove and Saralee's Vineyard. Kunde is survived by a son, daughter and granddaughter. Reimers promoted at Foley Hugh Reimers has been promoted from chief administrative officer to the post of president of Foley Fam- ily Wines in Santa Rosa. Reimers joined the company in 2017, after more than 20 years of experience in the wine industry. Reimers is the former president of Jackson Family Wines and also previously worked at Constellation Brands and Ya- lumba Wine Co. NORTHWEST Winebow expands in the Northwest National importer and distributor the Winebow Group announced an ex- pansion into Oregon. The company has increased its national footprint to 22 states and now covers the entire West Coast with Noble Wines in Washington and The Henry Wine Group in California. The Winebow warehouse and office is located in Portland, Ore., and will be managed by Toni Ketrenos, Oregon state man- ager; Kathy Byrd, vice president and general manager of Noble Wines, and Erle Martin, executive vice presi- dent of wholesale west. Rameys buy out partner in Zenith Tim and Kari Ramey, founders of Zenith Vineyard in the Willamette Valley, have bought out partner Mark Vlossak, who is moving wine- making of his brand, St. Innocent Winery, to a new property. Vlossak held a minority interest in the 83- acre vineyard the Rameys own as well as a winery and tasting room the partners built in 2008. The Ra- meys have purchased that building and hired winemaker Ehren Jordan to manage the production of Zenith wines. Jordan also will be moving production of his Failla Wines to Or- egon with him. Vlossak recently pur- chased a 47.5-acre property in the South Salem Hills area and is plan- ning to build a new winery there. CENTRAL Colorado honors Winiarski The Colorado Wine Industry De- velopment Board (CWIDB), part of the Colorado Department of Agriculture, named vintner Warren Winiarski the 2018 Friend of the Colorado Wine Industry during the 2018 VinCO & WCHS Conference that took place in January in Grand Junction, Colo., and was spon- sored by the Colorado Association of Viticulture & Enology. The groups also recognized Bookcliff Vineyards and Creekside Cellars as Grower and Winery of the Year, respectively. Winiarski helped put American wine on the global wine map when his 1973 "S.L.V." Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon won the 1976 Judg- ment of Paris. In 1968, Winiarski left Napa Valley to make wine in Colorado at Ivancie Cellars, which was one of the state's first wineries. In 1970, Winiarski returned to Napa Valley to found Stag's Leap Wine Cellars in what would become the Stags Leap District AVA.
