Biggest Demand in Winery Jobs
VINEYARD WORKER
Consolidation may have put the brakes on hiring of win-
ery administration and finance staff in 2017, but cellar
staff and vineyard workers were in strong demand. While
winemaking positions were in demand to handle growing
production, winter weather boosted demand for workers
to get vines in shape for the 2017 vintage. Demand con-
tinued through the year, as the economy picked up and
immigration con-
trols tightened. The
Winery Jobs Index
increased 37% for
vineyard workers,
while demand for
winemaking posi-
tions increased
14% over the same
period.
