Prior to his current position, Richardson was vice president of operations and formerly director of production. According to the com- pany, during his time at C. Mondavi & Family, "Production capabilities for the company have nearly doubled, and Richardson was also the leader of an extensive renovation project that completely transformed the Charles Krug tast- ing room into one of Napa's most popular des- tinations." C. Mondavi & Family also recently hired Judd Wallenbrock as CEO, Mark Kop- pen as vice president of marketing, and David Brown as senior vice president of sales. Ferrari-Carano founder dies Donald Louis Carano, founder of Ferrari-Carano Vineyards and Winery in Healdsburg, Eldorado Resorts Inc. and the McDonald, Carano & Wil- son law firm, died Oct. 3 at his home in Reno, Nev. He was 85. According to a statement released by the winery, Carano's legal career in Nevada made him an expert in corporate, busi- ness and gaming law. He used his knowledge to build in 1973 the Eldorado Hotel and Casino. With the Eldorado's emphasis on fine dining, Carano and his wife, Rhonda Bevilacqua, de- veloped a love for Sonoma County while visiting the region to buy wines for the hotel's restau- rants and decided to purchase property in the area. After taking classes in winemaking and making small lots of their own wines from their home ranch in Alexander Valley, the Caranos purchased additional land and founded Ferrari- Carano Vineyards and Winery in 1981. Today, the family owns 24 sustainably farmed estate ranches comprising more than 1,900 vineyard acres in six Northern California appellations. In 2008, the family acquired Lazy Creek Vineyards in the Anderson Valley of Mendocino County. Carano is survived by his wife, five children, 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. New assistant winemaker at Frank Family Jeremiah Timm is the new assistant winemaker at Frank Family Vineyards in the Napa Valley. Timm is a native of Wisconsin and began his winemaking career as a vineyard and winery assistant at Wollersheim Winery & Distillery in Prairie Du Sac, Wis., before moving to California to earn an enology degree from California State University, Fresno. After an internship at Kosta Browne Wines in 2008, Timm worked at Moshin Vineyards in the Russian River Valley for two years before rejoining Kosta Browne, where he Regional News Jeremiah Timm Donald Louis Carano
