O ff-premise sales through multiple-outlet and con- venience stores in the four weeks ended July 16 in- creased 2% to $638 million, Chicago, Ill.-based market re- search firm IRI reported. Sales for the 52 weeks increased 4% to $8.8 billion. Domestic sparkling wines saw just 6% growth in July ver- sus July 2016, and 5% in the l a t e s t 5 2 w e e k s . W h i l e t h e growth sounds impressive, the real strength lies with domestic table wines, which account for 95% of off-premise sales. Table wine sales increased 2% in July to $603 million, and 3% in the 52 weeks to $8.2 billion. Char- donnay and Cabernet Sauvi- gnon are the top two off-premise varietals, with combined annual sales of $3.6 billion. Sauvignon Blanc saw the strongest growth at 10%, followed by red blends at 8%. Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir both grew 6%.
