32 WINES&VINES May 2017 PRODUCT NEWS Device to gauge the oxygen needs of juice and must Vivelys introduced an updated ver- sion of its Cilyo device designed to help winemakers understand the oxygen potential of red must and white and rosé juice. The Cilyo de- termines the oxygen capacity of a juice, allowing a winemaker to add it early in a controlled manner to prevent any issues from premature oxidation. vivelys.com Spray nozzle for tank cleaning Bete unveiled its HydroClaw nozzle for tank cleaning. The new spray nozzle has no moving parts, which the manufacturer claims eliminates the risk of clogs and provides 360° coverage to deliver "ferocious tank cleaning." The spray head features a flow rate of 90 to 100 gallons per minute and allows for the passage of particles larger than 0.25 inches in diameter to further reduce the risk of clogging. bete.com Printing option for capsules Intercap is now offering Bistra Printing, which it describes as "the first no-limits printing system" for capsules. The supplier reports the new printing process is a major improvement over rotogravure printing, and because the new system does not involve cylinders, it reduces production times while enabling clients to customize cap- sules with images, logos or "an endless range of colors and shades." intercapclosures.com Compound to prevent trunk diseases Agrobiomics developed a new compound called CropSeal, which is derived from beeswax to seal pruning wounds on vines and prevent the spread of trunk diseases. Beeswax has hydro- phobic and antimicrobial proper- ties that provide for a natural sealant to protect vines after pruning. agrobiomics.com Device to prevent refilling Selinko and Toppan Printing Co. partnered to produce a new de- vice to prevent the removal, tam- pering or piercing of a cork. The companies designed the device to protect against the threat of bottle refilling while also providing an opportunity to engage with consumers. The device combines a Toppan sensor with radio fre- quency identification (RFID) and near-field communication (NFC) tags with Selinko's platform for authentication. The sensor is lo- cated on the top of the bottle below the capsule. A consumer can also activate the tag with a smartphone to authenticate the bottle while also accessing more information on the wine and win- ery. toppan.com, selinko.com Oak tannin products AEB released two variations of its Ellagitan Barrique Liquid Tannin, which is derived from heavy and medium toasted American oak. Ellagitan Barrique FR (fruit re- serve) is described as offering high notes of caramel and almond aromas, and it helps lift the fruit without affecting astringency or color. Ellagitan Barrique XO pro- vides structure and aromatic notes described as "spicy, smoky, hot and smoldering." aebusa.com Pre-calibrated analyzer for wine ATPGroup is now offering the WineLab Touch by CDR, which it described as designed to provide quick results without requiring any training to operate. ATPGroup reports the pre-measured, facto- ry-calibrated analysis cuvettes can be used without calibration and provide results in minutes. The WineLab comes with all re- quired equipment and can store analysis results or export to a USB drive or a computer. The de- vice can provide basic wine chemistry as well as total pheno- lic index, anthocyanins, YAN, RS, L-MA and others for a total of 25 tests. atpgroup.com Designed For the Most Discriminating Winemakers • Our Bottling Lines are Maintained to the Highest Standards • Pricing & Flexibility Options – Unmatched • Smooth & Efficient Production • 14 Trucks Proudly Serving CA – OR – WA • Clean & Sanitary – Lowest Oxygen Pickup • Our Staff is Friendly & Accommodating Customer Service is Our Highest Priority www.signaturebottlers.com to see our video brochure Email: david@signaturebottlers.com Phone: 503.655.4012
