SUPPLIER NEWS Bank of the West leads syndication on Duckhorn deal Bank of the West's Commercial Banking Group led the syndication for the financing of the acquisi- tion of Duckhorn Wine Co. by equity investor TSG Consumer Partners LLC. The transaction en- compasses all six DWC wineries (Duckhorn Vineyards, Goldeneye, Paraduxx, Migration, Decoy and Canvasback) and their correspond- ing properties, along with estate vineyard holdings spanning more than 600 acres in California's Napa Valley, Sonoma County, Anderson Valley and Washington state's Red Mountain district. Adam Beak, head of the Beverage Group for Bank of the West Commercial Banking Group, led the transaction for the bank. Oenodia adds second unit Napa, Calif.-based Oenodia added a second mobile unit for its STARS tartrate stabilization and pH-adjust- ment services. The new mobile unit, built just for the North American market, includes Oenodia's reverse- osmosis technology powered by the unit's own generator and is faster and more efficient. STARS, which stands for selective tartrate removal system, utilizes membrane- based, electrodialysis technology to deliver additive-free tartrate stabili- zation and pH adjustment. Vintage now offering 100% testing Utilizing the capabilities of its new, in-house laboratory, Vintage Nurs- eries in Wasco, Calif., announced it is now providing 100% scion test- ing of the supplier's internal mother blocks for all known grape viruses and pathogens, Pierce's disease and grapevine red blotch-associ- ated virus. The company also plans to soon add fungal and bacterial testing at its laboratory, which uses quantitative polymerase chain re- action (qPCR) analysis. Agrothermal moves to Napa Agrothermal Systems has moved into a new, 8,000-square-foot warehouse and office building in Napa, Calif. CEO Marty Fischer said in a statement that the new location offered space for the growing company that provides "thermaculture" services to in- crease yields, reduce pesticide use and help with other vineyard operations. New attorney at Hershner Hunter Michael Gelardi joined the law firm Hershner Hunter in Eugene, Ore. Previously, Gelardi worked for eight years at Davis Wright Tremaine, where he handled land- and water- management projects and was part of the food and beverage team.
