30 WINES&VINES January 2017 WINE INDUSTRY NEWS Sanitary Stainless Welding Inc. is the exclusive North American distributor for the Marzola product line Wine Market Council board elects chair The Wine Market Council, a non- profit association of grapegrow- ers, wine producers, importers, wholesalers, retailers and other affiliated wine businesses, an- nounced that Emma Swain, CEO of St. Supéry Estate Vineyards & Winery, is the new chair of the association's board of directors. Swain succeeds former Wine Market Council chair Dale Stratton of Constellation Brands. Swain has served on the Wine Market Council board for seven years. Her board term as chair will run for two years. Changes at TWE Americas Victoria Snyder was promoted from senior vice president of op- erations to senior vice president of U.S. sales for Treasury Wine Estates, and the company also an- nounced the hire of Ed LeMay as sales team chief of staff. The pro- motion and hire come after Mark Merrion's departure. With Snyder's promotion to senior vice president of U.S. sales, the company also announced Rachel Ashley has been appointed vice president of wine production. Ashley has been with TWE for more than a decade and will now be responsible for leading the winemaking and grape resources team as well as winery operations. C. Mondavi hires interim CEO The C. Mondavi & Family board of directors appointed John Len- non as the St. Helena-based company's interim president and CEO. According to a state- ment released by the winery, the appointment is the first step in a five-year plan to pursue "sig- nificant further growth." Lennon has served as president, CEO, general manager and marketing vice president while working for International Beverage Holdings, Pabst Brewing Company, INBEV, Pyramid Breweries and Nestle, among other companies. He has a background leading companies through transitions while improv- ing financial performance. Lennon holds an MBA in marketing and finance from Syracuse University. The winery also is conducting a nationwide search for a perma- nent hire for the president and CEO post. Napa Vintners donate for health center The Napa Valley Vintners will give $6 million to help pay for the con- struction of the new OLE Health medical facility in the city of Napa. Funds for the contribution come from the group's annual community fundraiser, Auction Napa Valley. According to the news release an- nouncing the donation, OLE Health currently provides primary medical care for one in six Napa County residents and one in four local children from its nine area facilities including the Napa Valley Vintners Community Health Center in Napa. The new facility, slated to open in 2018, is expected to serve more than 15,000 patients annually. NORTHWEST Oregon's Salud fundraiser raises nearly $1 million The ¡Salud! fundraiser to raise money for health care services for seasonal vineyard workers and their families raised $911,300 during the 25th anniversary of the event held Nov. 11-12. Events included a ¡Salud! Cuvée Tast- ing and Big Board Auction, which drew a crowd of approximately 400 attendees to Ponzi Vineyards in Sherwood, Ore., and generated $173,300.
