WINERY AVA Santa Maria Valley BONDED YEAR 2005 THE CHALLENGE
After selling the Wild Horse Winery & Vineyard, Ken Volk sought a new location to make Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and dabble in making wine from "heirloom" varieties such as Né- grette, Cabernet Pfeffer and Malvasia. Volk purchased the old Byron winery property for $2 million and then invested another $2 million to renovate the building and install new winemaking equipment.
