Learning Online About Grapes and Wine CCOVI lectures available live online or in archived video t. Catharines, Ontario—Brock University's Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute is offering a series of online lectures that cover topics in winemaking, viticulture, marketing and business practices that can be viewed live or downloaded from the CCOVI archive. Dr. Jim Willwerth, viticulturist at Brock University, chose "Coming Out of the Cold: the State of the Vine" as the topic for his March 9 lecture. He reviewed the complex physiological and biochemical changes that take place in grapevines as they transition from a cold-hardy to cold-tender state as winter ends. Willwerth also looked at the current status of the vines as they lose their cold hardiness for potential winter injury due to spring frosts. Dr. Linda Bramble, author, educator and a CCOVI professional affiliate, spoke March 16 about "Why Entrepreneurs Decided to S Continuing education coordinator Barb Tatarnic invited CCOVI viticulturist and presenter Jim Willwerth to lecture March 9 about cold-climate winegrowing.
