Salzberg is the former president of U.S. sales for Campbell Soup Co. The company acquired Stone Wolf Vineyards in McMinnville, Ore., last year and also owns the Cara Mia, Chime, Replica and Rascal wine brands. Winery donates money for tree replacement Chateau Grand Traverse Winery in Traverse City, Mich., donated $10,000 to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to replace diseased trees in Michigan state parks. The donation is the first in a three-year partnership between the winery and the DNR. Chateau Grand Traverse donates a portion of the sales from its Wines of the Great Outdoors series to support the state park system. EAST Brock invests in research Brock University in On- tario, Canada, announced a five-year, $1.42 million (Canadian) investment in an integrated research pro- gram to improve grapevine health, wine quality, market competitiveness and sus- tainability of the Canadian wine industry. The school's Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute received a $600,000 grant from the Natural Sciences and Engi- neering Research Council, $345,000 in funding from Ontario Grape and Wine Re- search Inc. and in-kind sup- port from industry partners totaling $484,600. The funds will be used to study clone and rootstock combinations, vine cold hardiness, impact of leaf removal, an online tannin-management tool and other projects. SUPPLIER Ben Franklin founder launches consultancy Dennis Franklin Patterson, co-founder of Ben Franklin Press & Label Co. in Napa, Calif., launched a new endeavor called Patterson Graphic Innovations. The goal of the new company is to help brand owners and designers "take con- trol of the quality and ex- ecution of the production of their labels and other printed materials." New technical director for Enartis Hend Letaief, Ph.D., is the new technical director of Enartis USA in Windsor, Calif. In the new position, Letaief will coordinate all technical aspects of Enartis USA and work closely with lab manager Max Burmeister. Letaief will coordinate technical support provided by the company's team of wine- makers and application specialists, manage re- search projects developed by Enartis in the Unites States, lead education programs through the company's workshops and seminars and administer the internal training of the Enartis USA sales team. Letaief earned a master's degree in viticulture and enology from Montpellier SupAgro and a doctorate in food science and tech- nology from the University of Turin. Before joining Enartis she was a faculty member of California State University, Fresno. Trinchero names Supplier of the Year Following the comple- tion of its new Westside Winery in Lodi, Calif., Trinchero Family Estates awarded Tampa, Fla.- based Emmeti USA with its 2015 Supplier of the Year Award for Excellent Customer Service. Ac- cording to a press release issued by Emmeti, Trin- chero commended the company for "its superior ability to communicate with its suppliers" and was grateful for a high level of customer service in producing the winery's automated processes.
