He had been recruited by consulting winemaker Barry Gnekow, and it was Gnekow who introduced him to a lot of winemaking technology. "He always en- couraged us to try new things," LaZarre says. About three years ago LaZarre, who was living in Paso Robles, Calif., left Hahn for a job closer to home and became winemaker for Villa San-Juliette in San Miguel.
