SUPPLIERS Wine storage facility expands Oregon Wine Ser- vices and Storage (OWS) of Mc- Minnville, Ore., is expanding its operations to Big Cork plants in Maryland Big Cork Vineyards recently planted 22 acres of 13 cultivars in Washington County, Md., utilizing state-of-the-art laser equip- ment from Benchmark Vineyard Plant- ing. Planting took place over six days and consisted of seven red cultivars: Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Nebbi- olo, Barbera and Syrah. Six white cultivars included Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Mus- cat Orange, Muscat Canelli, Chardonnay and Vidal. The vineyard is expected to pro- duce 5,000 cases of wine annually. OWS opened its original location in McMinnville in 2001. It has expanded steadily over the past decade, developing a menu of ser- vices including storage, shipping, distri- bution and transportation. It built an addition to its McMinnville facility in 2008 and is also partner with winemaker Laurent Montalieu in NW Wine Co., a custom-crush facility that's set to move from OWS's premises in McMinnville to its own purpose-built winery in Dundee.
