NY symposium. New winemaker at Rooster Hill Paige Vinson is the new winemaker at Rooster Hill Vineyards in the Finger Lakes area of New York state. Vinson grew up in the region and previously worked in sales and marketing and production for wineries in New York, Australia, New Zealand and Oregon. Vinson replaces Barry Tortolon, who left Rooster Hill to become the wine- maker at Heron Hill Winery in Ham- mondsport, N.Y. California winery expands Pennsylvania tasting room Thorn Hill Vineyards doubled the size of its Lancaster, Pa., tasting room in February. The winery is located in Lower Lake, Calif., but owners Jack and Amy Thorn are lifelong residents of Pennsylvania and opened their eastern tasting room in 2011. The expanded tast- ing room space in Pennsylvania will be used for private events. SUPPLIER New hires at Western Square Western Square Industries in Stockton, Calif., announced Mar- garet Abajian is the new Pacific Northwest sales representative, and Tony Giraudo will manage Sonoma County and the rest of Northern California. Prior to her new appointment, Abajian was the Napa and Sonoma territory representative for five years. Giraudo previously worked with California Glass Co. and Saxco International as capsules and ad- hesives manager. Promotions at Cork Supply Cork Supply USA in Benicia, Calif., announced the promotion of Josh Trowbridge to the post of vice pres- ident and general manager of Ton- nellerie Ô and Creative Oak and the hiring of Art Danner as the new vice president of sales for the compa- ny's closures division. Trowbridge joined Tonnellerie Ô in September 2014 to manage the cooperage's sales team. Danner has worked in the alcoholic beverage industry for 25 years, most recently as vice president of sales and strategy for Epic Wine & Spirits. New president at Technicote Tim Hare is the new president of label materials provider Tech- nicote in Miamisburg, Ohio. Hare will be responsible for long-term planning and managing the com- pany's executive team. He has 20 years of experience with Brook & Whittle, Vitex Packaging and York Tape & Label. Guillaume new nursery president Guillaume Grapevine Nursery in Knights Landing, Calif., named François Guillaume as president. The nursery is the California subsidiary of Pepinières Guil- laume, located in Charcenne, France. Guillaume holds a Ph.D. in agronomy and worked at the Californian nursery for the past three years. AgroThermal partners with Mark Chandler Former Lodi Winegrape Com- mission executive director Mark Chandler, who now runs his own vineyard and winery consulting firm Chandler & Co., has part- nered with Walnut Creek, Calif.- based AgroThermal Systems to bring the firm's Thermaculture technology to the Lodi AVA. Agro- Thermal developed a system that treats vines with hot air, which it claims increases yields, reduces pest pressure and helps manage weather-related crop damage. Chandler plans to use the Agro- Thermal system on his own 180- acre vineyard and contract the equipment out for other growers in the region as part of his con- sulting services. Margaret Abajian
