N.Y. Budget Funds Viticulture Center A
lbany, N.Y.—The New York state budget for 2012-13 includes $3.3 million to cover the full cost of constructing a viti-
culture center at the Cornell Agricultural and Food Technology Park in Geneva, N.Y. The cen- ter is expected to open in fall 2013 to provide hands-on training for students in Finger Lakes Community College's Viticulture and Wine Technology program.

The 6,800-square-foot building will in- clude a classroom, laboratory and teaching winery, along with a crush pad and spray shed. A small vineyard will be planted adja- cent to the center. Paul Brock, who runs the FLCC program,
told Wine East, "These dedicated facilities will give students experience that they would be unable to get in a traditional classroom or laboratory."
