When contacted by Wines & Vines, Trezise said, with great emphasis, "I'm not retiring!...We plan to take the time to find the right person for leadership in the key aspects of the organization." Winery seeks expansion, development The owners of LaBelle Winery of Amherst, N.H., plan to acquire an adjacent parcel of land to develop an inn, restaurant, brewery, distillery and houses. The project, expected to cost $12 million, is currently under review by planning officials, according to local media reports. Amy LaBelle and her husband Cesar Arboleda opened the winery in 2012. The couple has reportedly signed an agreement to purchase the 48-acre property for the develop- ment that would include 5 acres of new vineyards. SUPPLIER NEWS Universal Packaging earns certification Universal Packaging of Vernon, B.C., received ISO certification 9001:2008. According to Universal Packaging, it is the first and only bottle decorator in North America to be cer- tified to this standard. Laffort hires Central Coast rep Marcy Mallette is Laffort USA's new winemaker and technical representative for the Central Coast region of California. Mallette is the former manager of an im- munology research lab at the University of California, Davis, and worked at win- eries in California's Napa and Sonoma counties before managing the Cab- ernet Sauvignon program at E. & J. Gallo Winery in Livingston, Calif. New reps at Scott Labs Scott Laboratories of Petaluma, Calif., hired new sales representatives for the Midwest and North- east regions of the United States. Luke Holcombe is the new representative for the Midwest market. Holcombe is a graduate of California Polytechnic University and the former winemaker for Post Fami- lie Vineyards & Winery in Altus, Ark. The new North- east representative, Katie Cook, earned a master's degree in enology from the University of Burgundy in Dijon, France, and worked harvests in Napa Valley, Argentina, France and Australia before becoming the enology project leader at the University of Min- nesota. Cook lives in the Finger Lakes region of New York, where she is also the assistant winemaker for Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard. Novavine hires two for sales team Santa Rosa, Calif.-based Novavine announced Mi- chael Monette and Chris- tine Palmberg have joined its sales team. Monette had worked in agriculture for 22 years and has more than 17 years of experi- ence in the grapevine nursery business. Palm- berg has worked with Monette as sales associ- ate for more than a decade and is a graduate of the California Polytechnic University Agribusiness Department in San Luis Obsipo.
