Mem- bers of the 24 wine and grape as- s o c i a t i o n s s p o n s o r i n g t h e conference are eligible for an ad- ditional 10% discount for the event scheduled to take place March 8-10, 2016, in Lancaster. After holding the conference in Syracuse, N.Y., in 2015, the Eastern Winery Exposition is re- turning to the Lancaster County Convention Center, where it will feature 40 speakers from the in- dustry, 30 conference sessions and 240 exhibitor booths, making it the largest wine industry trade show and conference east of the Rocky Mountains. Two daylong workshops will be held March 8. Viticulturist Lucie Morton will lead a work- shop about "Soil & Fine Wine," which will present a comprehen- sive review of the science behind the relationships between soils and vines and focusing on soils of the Mid-Atlantic region. The workshop also will feature a session about wastewa- ter regulations led by Robert DiGilarmo of the Department of Environmental Protection in Pennsylvania, as well as a session about increasing tasting room visits through social media by Kathy Kelley from Penn State University. Speakers at the second work- shop will include Jerry Forest of Buckingham Valley Vineyards (Pennsylvania), Peter Oldak of Jewell Towne Vineyards (New Hampshire) and Brian Roeder of Barrel Oak Winery (Virginia), who will share examples of how they prepared to launch their winery businesses. The two-day conference pro- gram on March 9 and 10 will feature multiple sessions in viti- culture, enology and money/ marketing/management—and will include sessions dedicated to fruit wines. The program is de- signed to offer practical informa- tion to a range of attendees—from those in the planning stages to industry veterans.
