22 WINES&VINES July 2015 WINE INDUSTRY NEWS CALIFORNIA New chief marketing officer at Hess Nicole Carter is the new chief marketing officer for The Hess Col- lection Winery in Napa. Carter will oversee marketing efforts for the California-based brands of Hess Family Wine Estates as well as Amalaya and Colomé in Argentina and Glen Carlou in South Africa. For the past two decades, Carter worked in marketing for Treasury Wine Estates, most recently as vice president of international marketing. Wine Institute names board officers Members of the Wine Institute elected Greg Coleman, vice presi- dent of grower relations at E. & J. Gallo Winery in Modesto, Calif., to the post of board chairman for the 2015-16 fiscal year. Coleman is the third generation of the Gallo family to be elected to the board post. Other board officers elected were Margie Healy of Korbel Champagne Cellars in Guerneville, Calif., first vice chair- man; Steve Lohr of J. Lohr Vine- yards & Wines in San Jose, Calif., second vice chairman; Chris Indeli- cato of Delicato Family Vineyards in Napa, Calif., treasurer; and Hank Wetzel of Alexander Valley Vineyards in Healdsburg, Calif., secretary. New GM for Accolade North America Accolade Wines appointed M.J. Loza as general manager of the company's North American opera- tions. Accolade is a global wine company that owns the Geyser Peak, Atlas Peak and XYZin brands in California. Loza was CEO of Blenheim, New Zealand- based Mud House Wine Group when Accolade Wines acquired it in 2014, and for the past year he has been the general manager for Accolade Wines' New Zealand operation. Loza will join Accolade's executive committee and report directly to CEO John Ratcliffe. New director at Brand Napa Valley Elizabeth Vianello is the new direc- tor of Brand Napa Valley winery on Pritchard Hill in St. Helena. Vianello is a 25-year veteran of the hospitality and food and bever- age industries and joins Brand from Alejandro Bulgheroni Estate in Napa Valley, where she held the position of estate director. Vianello will work with Brand owners Ed Fitts and Deb Whitman in oversee- ing day-to-day operations and developing the winery's hospitality program. New winemaker at McEvoy Ranch Blake Yarger is the new winemaker at McEvoy Ranch in Petaluma. Yarger has been with the estate Regional News Blake Yarger Nicole Carter M.J.
